Kelly Ann Schiliro was born September 21, 1959 in Shelby, Ohio. Kelly was a happy child who was not afraid to take on challenges and new endeavors. Kelly graduated from Shelby High School and was an active member of the high school; she especially enjoyed running the scoreboard for wrestling matches. She went on to attend Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio. She was proud to call herself a Falcon. Bowling Green was a launching off point for what would be an incredibly successful career. Attending university, singing at night and working at the local Holiday Inn was the foundation that led to a career in the Hotel/ Hospitality Industry. Kelly became an exceptional leader from the hotel level at the Cleveland Hilton, where she met her adoring husband Allen, to a corporate executive with Red Roof Inns were she invited clients to attend Indy Car races, as Red Roof sponsored Indy Car winner Bobby Rahal. When Red Roof was sold in 1999 Kelly was offered a Vice President position with Motel 6 in Dallas, Texas. It did not take long for Kelly and her husband Al to agree to make the move as Kelly aspired to be a Vice President with a national presence. Kelly excelled within the environment at Motel 6 /Accor, ultimately her hard work and contributions were recognized and rewarded with Accor’s highest award; the Bernache, presented to only a handful of individuals out of the 150,000+ global employees. Kelly received the award twice in her career with Motel 6 / Accor. Kelly was extremely proud of the team she worked with. Her motto was “if they work for me, I work for them”. She had the privilege of managing a 20+ member team that she considered exceptional as they were knocking down consecutive record sales goals. As much as Kelly loved work and considered it her hobby, she had a zest for life; from driving a racing car around Mid-Ohio Race car course, to white water rafting the Colorado and the New River in West Virginia. She enjoyed traveling domestically and internationally. She loved the west; Durango, Colorado Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Banff, Canada. Kelly was known for her cooking and enjoyed the Food Channel and trying some of the recipes. Whenever family would get together ultimately the story would arise of when she was in high school and cooked a seven course meal at home and when her parents arrived they found the kitchen stacked with pots and pans so high they could barely see their petite daughter. The last vacation Kelly and Al shared was to the Culinary Institute of America at Greystone in Napa Valley. Kelly was a special individual who was humble and preferred listening than talking about herself. She never had an unkind word about anyone and always gave people and life the benefit of the doubt. She had a smile that would light up a room and melted her loving husband – Al. Kelly passed from life much too soon on November 23, 2013. She had no regrets, she was happy with the life she lived! Kelly is survived by her husband Allen Schiliro, her parents Gerald and Sandra McGuire, sisters Molly Dykes, Tracy Huffman, Wendy Bowling and Kerry Shepherd. A vigil service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 5, 2013 also at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, with Father Reuben Chen, Celebrant.
